Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

As a Native American-owned business, Precision has a defining commitment to empowering underrepresented groups in construction and enriching the community where we live and work.

Our most recent efforts include numerous community/industry events, such as hosting a daylong Building Pride event at our offices, with presentations and panel discussions by diversity suppliers, LGBQT, female, and minority business owners, representatives of groups such as the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, Precision co-founder Jared Malapit, and others. Cal Poly students, subcontractors, and consultants joined Precision for the program, which aimed to create more inclusive workplaces and develop new relationships and clients for attendees.

Precision has held lectures and presentations for the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo chapter of Women in Construction at our offices, offering a real-world perspective and advice on being a woman in the field. Each year, Precision sponsors a female employee to attend at the annual Women in Construction national conference.

Our robust internship and training program, largely overseen by Mr. Malapit, develops talented construction professionals who have gone on to become Precision employees or work in construction with other companies. Our current class of interns draws entirely from underrepresented groups.

Precision also purposefully seeks minority- and woman-owned subcontractors in support of our clients’ goals and the goals we have set for ourselves. We are proud of projects such as a $621,000 heater replacement project for the Federal Government, where more than 30% of the revenue went to woman- and minority-owned subcontractors.

Precision is an SBA 8(a) minority-owned business, and also a certified MBE and DBE business.
