Precision conducted a robust constructability review and budget study for the planned 26,000 SF, state–of–the–art museum building to be constructed in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, CA in conjunction with the planned revitalization of the city’s historic Mission Plaza. This study included the cost of constructing the new museum facility as well as the costs to revamp the neighboring public plaza and adjacent streets (Monterey & Broad). Precision worked with a diverse team of design consultants and specialty sub–consultants to optimize the structural and building systems while enhancing and complimenting the attributes of the downtown’s primary public gathering space. Notable project components include a seismic base isolation system to protect the art and enhance building resiliency, a waterless fire suppression system and sophisticated building systems to maintain envelope integrity and maintain strict humidity controls, and integration of the museum’s planned sculpture garden with an interactive art walk through Mission Plaza.
